Our wedding in Normandy — Tiny Sarah's Cakes

I can’t believe I haven’t posted about our own wedding yet!

We got married to my partner almost 7 years ago. (Most people don’t even know as I still call him my boyfriend and he still calls me his girlfriend. Husband and wife are just… weird words. I will still call him my boyfriend when I am 100 years old.) (He calls me “spouse” when he wants to piss me off.) (It works.)

We got married in Normandy, France, at the beginning of October 2015. I have always been completely obsessed with parties – not particularly weddings, just any occasion where you’d have cute stationary, people over, good food, friends, and cool activities – so I knew that i would spend a good amount of time planning our wedding and making shit. And I did – I was still cutting confettis two days before the day. That is how I truly bumped into the wedding industry: I made my own cake (it was my first wedding cake too!) and just fell down the rabbit hole.

We had done the legal bits a week before in Paris – you can’t get married anywhere else than at the city hall of the town you live or your parents live in in France – so our Normandy wedding was a big party and gathering of people we love. Our ceremony was officiated by my sister, who is one of my favourite people in the world, and I just cried from the beginning to the end. It was all very informal: we had a massive buffet of cakes and bakes for 4pm (known as the “goûter” in French), a burger truck for the evening, no staff to clean up plates or whatever so we were all doing the dishes together in the kitchen. It was magical. Everyone was so relaxed and we just spent time with all of our guests, no nonsense, just good food, good wine, good company (and amazing décor because PRETTINESS!).
