2019 review - professional and personal

I found an End of year review on No Bull Business School and thought it would be a great way to end 2019, and start 2020. I’ve only taken bits and pieces from it, but if you want the full version, you can download it for free on their website.

Brainstorm all the words that describe your year:

Thrilling
Exhausting
New

My biggest lessons this year:

-value myself, my work and my time. I gave a few discounts in the hopes it would bring me good things and it didn’t. It’s the truth: people don’t value things they get for free, or almost free. In theory, I knew this, but I still agreed to things I should not have. And that’s okay - it has taught me to stop thinking things and not act on them, and I now have a proper accountability lady in Berni to help me stay in line with my worth;

-focus. Stop spreading myself thin on all projects and focus on a few things at a time so I can stop working 60 hour weeks and not earn any money;

-I need to take some time off, and organise myself further up the line. I overbooked myself (again) this year and arrived at the end of November in shatters, I couldn’t even bring myself to launch the Christmas products I wanted to launch.

My word for 2020 is BALANCE, and I want this to reflect in all areas of my life. I have definitely not been balanced in 2019, and in 2020 I want to take better care of myself, my family, take on less projects and stop feeling like a failure all the time because I’m spreading myself so thin I don’t feel like I’m giving it all.

To do that, I am:

-working on improving my productivity, by starting to time block my diary and organising myself better;

-upping my prices so I can take on less projects but give them more;

-focusing on my marketing strategies for products I’m already selling, and launching new products one at a time;

-taking more time for me every day, to do some meditation, yoga, exercise, and prepare good food.

Here is a list of everything that happened in 2019 and was a huge win for me:

-I started teaching pole, that was a dream since 2013 when I first went to the pole society in Uni;

-I got my unit and am finally working outside of the house, with space to grow;

-I have a VA who helps me with a lot of admin, the thing I struggle with the most;

-I successfully did a crowdfunding campaign;

-I made cakes for amazing couples who gave me free reign;

-I launched my second brand (Avant Garde Cake Studio) and got accepted to A Most Curious Wedding Fair with it, which was one of my 2020 goals;

-I ran my first race since my hip injury in 2016;

-I launched my eshop in September - that was on the to do list since January 2018!

What I want next year to look like:

-More orders from amazing couples;

-More orders through my shop and more subscription boxes;

-Start running regular workshops;

-I have a few new exciting products I want to launch too;

-A race a month;

-Doing triathlons again;

-Stop working at 6pm every evening.

Here’s to a successful 2020, whatever success may mean to you ❤
