5 reasons why your wedding will be better than your cousin's if you have a cool cake
Let’s start with the obvious - I had fun writing this title, but really - no wedding is intrinsically better than another. HOWEVER, a wedding can be more or less appreciated by the couple who is having it, or guests. The most important thing is that your wedding feels like you, and that you have a banging time. Whether that means having a 14 tier cake, a Rolls Royce driving you to your venue or your dog as the ring bearer - it has to be what you want. No judgement here, and the way you should read a better wedding just means that you’ll love it more than if you went another way because you felt pressured to. A cool cake can mean ANYTHING. For you, it could mean a white on white cake. For another couple, it could be a purple cake with yellow flowers. For someone else, a candy explosion with unicorns on top. Doesn’t matter.
Now that this is settled, let’s jump into why choosing your cake intentionally will make your wedding better for you!
1 - It will bring you excitement during wedding planning
Because it’s way more exciting to have a personalised tasting experience, talk to a wedding supplier who feels like a friend, and chat about what you love and a wedding day you will love than to order a crap cake from M&S in a few clicks. Trust me on this.
2 - Discovering it on the day will be such a fabulous surprise
But if YOU find your cake ideas cool, how excited are you going to be when you see it in real life on your wedding day? Imagine yourself walking into your reception room and seeing this incredible sparkly tower, that looks better than you could have ever thought - won’t that be an incredibly exciting part of the day?
Now, imagine yourself walking into your reception room and seeing a cake that is like the ones you’ve seen at a thousand other weddings, that looks like it’s been mass produced by M&S - honestly, you couldn’t care less whether it’s here or not.

3 - It will be the talk of your wedding
On your wedding day and a LONG time after. People still talk to me about our wedding cake - because they had never seen anything like it! Let me tell you, we may all pretend like we don’t care what other people think but it definitely makes me all warm inside when my guests start talking about my wedding with stars in their eyes, and the cake was definitely a part of it. I don’t mean to be rude, but your guests won’t remember the ten thousand naked cake they see.
4 - It will be enjoyed more AND an ice breaker
Literally everyone will walk to your cake, take pictures, talk about it - which will be a perfect ice breaker! And don’t forget, people will enjoy it more because it looked special. The mix of sensory pleasures will play in everyone’s favour because your guests won’t mindlessly eat a cake they didn’t even really notice, they’ll oooh and aaah as they savour it.
5 - You’ll be able to cherish the memory forever
You don’t have to have toppers - just the memory of it will be with you because that cake will have been SO special.
But if you do have toppers - you’ll actually be able to keep them forever! I love it when my couples ask for toppers on their cake - whether it’s an actual representation of them, or them as animals, dinosaurs, or things. They’ll look amazing on your fireplace or on a shelf forever - and what a beautiful and meaningful keepsake you’ll have!
